Gaude, Maria Virgo

Rejoice, O Virgin Mary, thou alone hast destroyed all heresies. Who didst believe the words of the Archangel Gabriel. Whilst a virgin thou didst bring forth God and man: and after childbirth thou didst remain a pure virgin. O Mother of God, intercede for us.

This prayer is taken from the Tract of the Mass Propers today, for the Saturday of our Lady. A beautiful prayer, and a joyful and glorious reminder that by her “Fiat” to the Divine Will, Our Lady truly destroyed forever all heresies, because she heard the Word of God and she kept it.

She believed that the promise of the Father would be fulfilled in and through her, as the power of the Holy Ghost overshadowed her and she conceived the Son of the Most High, Who is Our Lord and Redeemer.

As God had overshadowed the Ark of the Covenant in the days of Moses, so now too, He overshadows His new Ark of the New Covenant. Nothing impure, not even a stain of sin, could dare touch His previous Ark. And now no stain of impurity can get near His new Ark, the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Heresy can not approach her, for the moment it tries, it is utterly destroyed. In accepting God's divine truth revealed to her through the Archangel, she ensures that anyone who approaches her forevermore shall also be rescued from the poisonous corruption of error. She protects and sustains us, as she did for the Divine Infant she carried within her womb. She is the Mother of God, and she is our Mother as well. Our safe refuge.

A pure virgin before, during, and after the Annunication and the Nativity. Forever at enmity with the infernal serpent, who indeed is utterly terrified by her even the mention of her name, she also ensures that anyone who calls on her intercession will be rescued from his cunning attacks, as well. Three ways to remain uniquely connected to her is through daily recitation of the Rosary, wearing the Brown Scapular, and the Miraculous Medal. We can also offer her our Noon Angelus every day. And we can be totally consecrated to Jesus in her. So let us call on her, frequently and daily.

Oh Mary, mother of Jesus and Queen of the Church, I ask you to bless me with fidelity to my vocation. Assist me in seeing that my service, however humble and hidden, is important to the universal Church. Strengthen me in times of trial and watch over my family and loved ones. Help me, beloved Mother, to remain faithful to Jesus Christ, your Son, the Returning King.

Blessed Mother Mary, please help me. I want to say “No” to my human will whenever it wants to push God out of my heart.

Mary, Mother of Mercy, pray for us. Mary, Queen of All Hearts, pray for us. Mary, Sweet Hope of Our Souls, pray for us.

O Mary, my Queen, and my Mother, I give myself entirely to you. And in proof of my love and affection, I consecrate this day to you my eyes, my ears, my lips, my heart, my whole being without reserve. Since I am wholly thine, O bountiful Mother, Keep me and defend me As your property and possession. Amen.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. We love you. Save souls. Amen.
