Genesis 3:10
“But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” - Genesis 2:17
When man chose to rebel against God, they ushered in evil and death upon themselves and all generations. When Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden and ate of the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they realized they were naked and covered themselves in fig leaves.
“And he said, ‘I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.’ He said, ‘Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?’” -Genesis 3:10
Now, people have lost all sense of sin, and women now walk around half naked all of the time. All that you have to do is head to the beach, or even a mall, to see the fruits of what occurred the day that Adam and Eve chose to eat of that tree, yet they were ashamed of themselves. Where once Eve and Adam were ashamed of their nakedness, women and men too, are not anymore. People today have no shame, and even people who profess Christ from their lips look and dress exactly as the rest of the world does.
We have drifted so far from the awareness of our sinfulness that rather than hiding in shame we flaunt it with pride. We are walking contradictions of what it means to be conformed to the image of Christ. We have lost that sense of shame that even Adam and Eve experienced when they realized their own nakedness. They hid and covered themselves in fig leaves. If we had any sense of sin, we too should cover ourselves.
